Visual identity + website design & development

About the Client

Dimitri is a talented property stylist. He was working for a company as the creative brains trust for all the home stages around inner Melbourne when he was referred to me by a past client. Dimitri spoke to me about his passion for interior design, specifically staging homes for sale, and he was ready to take on the industry with his own business. Dimitri came to me with a strong understanding of the need to have a well-executed brand and website when starting out – especially being in the design industry himself! He initially had the name idea of “Top 2 Bottom Styling” but changed direction to “Nest Styling Collective” after our first round of brand discovery where we identified the target client persona.

Brand Feels

Enter Nest Styling Collective – a styled nest for success. Nest Styling Collective is a boutique property styling service in Melbourne specializing in contemporary interiors with a hint of modern. The visual identity needed to appeal to both the real estate industry and vendors themselves while also projecting themselves as the trusted and superior choice. We did this by creating a muted palette of grey, blue, and teal – colors that lend to trust and sophistication. While we did investigate using a predictable nest/abstract nest icon for the logo, we eventually landed on a simple house icon which lends itself to the company’s purpose when the name itself may not.

Website Specifications

Dimitri required a few custom requirements built into his site, allowing him to customize elements as needed. We did this by building a custom WordPress site, with the help of Advanced Custom Fields. His homepage has the added option of a gallery that Dimitri keeps updated on a regular basis, showcasing his latest projects. We also included a testimonial carousel that is updated automatically across multiple pages. Dimitri required a detailed, conditional quote form. This means that the questions on the form changed depending on the information selected. We used a premium plugin called Gravity Forms for this feature (all premium plugins are included free for all clients who host their websites with us).

Dimitri says:

“Launching a business in the competitive space of home staging and property styling requires a strong brand message and an equally impressive website. From the outset, Kate was able to ask the right questions to gain a deep and true understanding of my business. Using an interactive and collaborative process, Kate designed a logo and color palette for the brand that was exactly what I had envisaged. Kate is a very clever and talented designer who understands the value of effective branding. Kate taught me that content dictates design. This allowed me to determine the most important aspects of my brand and website and to provide this information to Kate so she could build the website in the best possible way. Through good communication, ongoing feedback, and understanding my brand vision, Kate delivered a result that exceeded my expectations. In order to get the final product perfect, I would send Kate multiple emails with many questions and suggestions, and she took the time to respond to and workshop every single detail until I was completely satisfied. If you are looking for a designer that has the skills and expertise to help bring your brand to life and is easy to work with, I gladly recommend the services of Kate Hall. She is first class!”
